Prayer Tip Tuesday – Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will be Done

(True story)

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done.

Imagine being a mother with a sick child.  A child with a diagnosis that could lead to death.  The fear.  The heartbreak.  You know God can heal.  You believe.  But you also know that God doesn’t heal everyone who asks.  You pray as you care for your sick child.  And you pray.  And you pray.  You cry and you hope.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done.

You know what you want.  You want your child to stop suffering.  You want his pain to go away.  You would like nothing more than for your child to be healed.  You know you have to trust God.  Is this what He wants?  Is this what is best?  You wrestle with these questions, and then you receive peace.  You trust.  Then you wake up the next morning and the same questions, the same doubts attack you again.  Eventually the peace comes again, but it is hard.  Each time your child cries out in pain you feel helpless.  You turn to God.  You pray.  You cry and you hope.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done.

Then you’re sitting in the doctor’s office after months of treatments.  You don’t know what the outcome will be, but you know you’ve been praying, that everyone’s been praying for a miracle.  You believe.  You believe it is possible.  Not only possible, you know it happens.  You’ve seen it before.  But will it happen this time?

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done.

And it does.  The impossible has happened.  Impossible for man, but not impossible for God.  A healing.  A miracle.  You knew it could happen, and now it has.  Your heart sings with joy.  Healing tears fill your eyes.  Laughter fills your mouth.  You hold your child and you know that God is holding your child too.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done.

God hears.  God listens.  God answers.  Sometime yes, sometimes no, sometimes wait.  But He always answers.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done.

Join me today in thanking and praising God for His miracle!  God is present among His people!  He is here today, just as He was yesterday, just as He will be tomorrow!  We are never alone.  He will never abandon us.  We can turn to Him, and talk to Him and trust Him.  We can know that He hears, He listens and He answers.  Praise you Lord Jesus Christ!  Today we have a healing and a miracle to thank you for.  It is time for a party!!!
