Transfiguration Sunday

as received by Deacon Stan Cor;  shared with permission

“Jesus took with Him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray. While He was praying, the appearance of His face changed, and His clothes became dazzling white.” (Luke 9:28-29)
Jesus invites each of us to join Him on the mountain of prayer to experience His awesome glory, to be transfigured with Him and by Him. In that moment we also can experience the cloud of the Father’s glory covering and enveloping us. Abba, Father will affirm Jesus as His beloved Son to Whom we are to listen, Who brings us the law of the New Covenant. Abba will also affirm us as His beloved sons and daughters with whom He is well-pleased and to whom He has entrusted a share of His glory and the mission of Jesus.
Each of us needs to come to the Lord in prayer so He can bless us with life-changing God encounters. One minute with God will change a life forever. Like Peter, John and James, we may not fully understand or appreciate the power of that encounter or what it has done for us or what it has equipped us for. However, we can be certain that the fruit of the God encounter will be made evident as we continue our journey as disciples of Christ. Our experience of the transfiguration may not be on a physical mountain. It may be in our prayer corner or prayer room, in church, in nature, or elsewhere. The invitation is always open:
‘Come to the mountain of the Lord’s presence. Come be transfigured and transformed by glorious God encounters. come!’

“As I was transfigured & My glory was seen by Peter, John & James & overwhelmed them, so you are to experience My radiant glory & be transformed by it. More than that, I desire the cloud of Abba Father’s glory to overshadow you & envelope you. Great things happen quickly in the glory.
Note that I was transfigured as I was praying. That is a hint for you. Pursue My presence in prayer; draw near to Me, to Father & to Holy Spirit. By prayer, praise & worship focus on Us & draw down our manifested glory. In the glory you will be touched, transformed, changed, rearranged, equipped, empowered & sent out for Us.
You were created for union & fellowship with God. You were created to share in our image & likeness & to live the abundant overflowing life. You were created to be transfigured by the glory. You are meant to be temples of the living God, temples of the Holy Spirit, temples filled with the glory of God.
Come possess what We have promised: life on high, life in glory even here and now.”
