Treasures of Heaven Tuesday

as received by Deacon Stan Cor; shared with permission

The song Earthen Vessels:

We hold a treasure not made of gold
In earthen vessels, wealth untold;
One treasure only, the Lord,
The Christ, in earthen vessels.

Indeed, we believers hold a treasure of greatest worth in the earthen vessels of our bodies; Jesus Christ, the Lord thru Whom all things, including us, were created. Jesus has knocked at the door of our hearts and as He promised He has entered into every heart that opened to Him in welcome.
Treasure of treasures in the earthen vessel of everyone who believes in Him. Jesus, the treasure of heaven has become our treasure!

“Lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. (Matt. 6:20)”

Material wealth and possessions are temporary. Nothing lasts forever — except what our God enables us to do for others. Faith, hope and love abide, but the greatest of these is love. Love looks like something. To the lost love is the Good News of salvation, forgiveness and new life in Jesus. To the hungry love is food, to the thirsty safe water to drink. To the sick and lonely love is friendly visits. To the homeless love is a safe shelter and welcome. To the needy love is the help they require.
These are a few of the ways to store up treasure in heaven.

“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matt. 6:21)”
What is your treasure? Where is your treasure? Is it earthly treasure or treasure of heaven?
Where is your heart? Is your heart fixed on things of heaven as it should be? Or have you allowed the things and cares of earth to capture the attention of your heart? If so, refocus on the treasure of heaven so that your heart may also be in heaven. Focus on all that is good, holy, pure, true, noble and lovely.
Choose heaven’s treasures, eternal treasures of glory.”
